For many years now, we have been following the motto "Donation Instead of Presents" at Christmas to help those who urgently need support and a little boost of energy. This year, we are donating a total of 10,000 Euros to the Beginenstiftung Tübingen and the Tübinger Familien- und Altershilfe TüFA.
That's why we were delighted to receive a visit today from Andrea Marschall, Chairwoman of the Beginenstiftung, Ingrid Gerth, founder of the Beginenstiftung, TüFA Managing Director Anke Möck and TüFA Chairman Berthold Rein.
Together, they told us why the commitment of both charitable organizations plays such an important role for Tübingen, what challenges the Beginenstiftung and TüFA face and what successes they have recently been able to celebrate.
The approximately 300 volunteers of the non-profit organization TüFA help elderly and sick people in Tübingen with shopping or household chores, look after children, provide relief for single parents or make activating dementia visits on an hourly basis.
The non-profit organization Beginenstiftung supports self-organized women's housing projects in affordable shared property. The residential communities use their homes as if they were their own and ensure that they can be passed on to future residents in good condition. A solidarity-based financing model for women with limited financial resources is also part of the concept.
"They work every day to support people in our neighborhood, some of whom are facing existential challenges, and to gently help them move forward. This is a great commitment to Tübingen," said Frank Ganssloser, AVAT founder and Managing Director, thanking our guests. He presented the donation cheques with the words: "We have been practising the motto: donations instead of gifts for many years. And yet we are touched anew every time: By every meeting associated with these fundraising campaigns and all the people whose commitment we admire."
