Donations instead of gifts to support those who urgently need help and a boost of energy. This was the motto under which the Tübingen-based technology company AVAT yesterday presented donations totaling 10,000 euros. This year, the financial support goes to the Förderverein des Zentrums für Seltene Erkrankungen (ZSE) Tübingen e.V. (Friends of the Center for Rare Diseases) and the LernOrt Bauernhof (Farm as a Place of Learning), a cooperative project of the kit jugendhilfe, the Tübinger Verein für Sozialtherapie bei Kindern und Jugendlichen e.V. (Tübingen Association for Social Therapy for Children and Adolescents), and Berghof in Tübingen Lustenau.
People with rare diseases often fall through the cracks of the German healthcare system. These often very complex diseases require the joint care of experts from different fields. However, the healthcare system currently does not provide any solutions for this. The ZSE, with the help of its support association, is trying to close this gap. At the meeting and the handover of the donation, Dr. Holm Graeßner, managing director of the ZSE Tübingen and chairman of the association, reported on how this is being achieved and the important tasks that the association is taking on.
The team at the LernOrt Bauernhof (Farm as a Place of Learning), on the other hand, has set itself the task of giving children and young people direct access to nature and to future-oriented topics such as climate protection, ecology and sustainability. On the organic Berghof farm, children and young people are encouraged to get actively involved in the daily farm routine. “They take on responsibility, expand their knowledge in a very practical way and thus experience their actions as effective and sustainable,” reported Jutta Goltz, Head of Education, Participation and Social Integration at kit jugendhilfe, and Daniela Schmalz, an employee of the association, at the presentation of the donation.
“We are impressed by how your two organizations succeed in opening up new perspectives and giving hope to people of all ages in very different areas,” emphasized Frank Ganssloser, AVAT founder and CEO, at the joint meeting. ‘With our long-standing principle of ’donations instead of gifts', we want to support you financially in your upcoming tasks. But I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your commitment – especially on behalf of our customers, partners and employees, who are passing on their Christmas gift to you in the form of this donation,” added Frank Ganssloser.
